Colour Run to take over Eidsvold
EIDSVOLD State School will become a sea of colour and mud on Saturday when the P&C hosts its first Colour Fun Run.
Kicking off on the school grounds at 9am, competitors will run in the race filled with obstacle courses.
Organiser Trudie Roth said the course wasn’t too difficult.
“The running side of it isn’t overly big, there is more of a focus on the fun side of it and the obstacles,” she said.
“We have mud, slime, climbing up, climbing down, balancing stuff.
“You don’t have to be super fit, you don’t have to be super muscular, it will just be fun.”
Roth said she looked forward to seeing the kids get muddy and dirty.
“The mud will come quite early, then they’ll get soaked and ready for the powder at the end of the race,” she said.
“There are different events that are age-group related.
“The little kids will go first, then it ill progress up to grade 11, 12 and an open race for the adults.”
Roth said they have had interest from about 150 runners so far.
“We’ve left it open though so you can just turn up on the day and nominate,” she said.
She said the event, which was still yet to happen, had so far raised $5000.
“The students have annihilated the goal we set,” Roth said.
“We set the kids a goal of $5000 and they’ve gone over that.
“We’re raising funds to replace the school playground equipment, so the kids can keep having fun.
“The equipment is from $30,000 up, so this is just the start.
“We will decide after this weekend if it becomes an annual event.”

“We’ve also had quite a bit of parent support,” she said.
