Buckle up kids

The State’s peak mo­tor­ing body, RACQ, has ex­pressed con­cern at the dis­turb­ing num­ber of mo­torists fined for fail­ing to re­strain their chil­dren while driv­ing on Queens­land roads. Fig­ures re­leased to RACQ by the De­part­ment of Trans­port and Main Roads found in the first half of this year alone, more than 1000 driv­ers were caught not re­strain­ing a child un­der 16. As many as 44 fines were handed out for fail­ing to buckle up a child un­der six months of age. Lau­ren Richie from RACQ said there was no ex­cuse for not prop­erly re­strain­ing a child in a car.
