1000 YARDED IN MURGON
NUMBERS were up to 1000 in Murgon for the fortnightly sale on Tuesday. The market for most descriptions remained reasonably firm with the exception of some restocker cattle easing with the dry weather continuing and paddock conditions worsening. Cattle were drawn from Mundubbera, Gayndah, Biggenden, Monogorilby, Yarraman, Nanango, Kingaroy, Kilkivan and locally. Droughtmaster bullocks from Manyung sold to $1813 at $2.90 c/kg. Santa-cross bullocks from Wooroolin sold to $1785 at $2.98 c/kg. Four and six-tooth bullocks from Mundubbera sold for $2.78 c/kg returning $1700. 440kg four-tooth grain assisted droughtmaster heifers from Murgon sold to $2.77c/kg for $1300. Heavy cows topped at $2.48 c/kg for $1580.. Cows over 500kg averaged $2.32c/kg. Cows 400–500 kg averaged $2.09c/kg selling to $2.40c/kg. Cows under 400kg topped at $1.97c/kg. The best of the heavy bulls yarded sold to $2.51 c/kg and $2250. K and M Armstrong, Manyung, sold droughtmaster steers for $1705 at $3.29c/kg. S and K Augustine, Mundubbera, sold brangus and charbray steers for $1500 (3.49) and $1430 (3.45) respectively. 416kg santa-cross steers, a/c Merlwood Enterprises, Murgon, sold for $3.46c/kg for $1440. Limousin-cross steers, a/c N Labuschewski, Tingoora, sold to $3.57c/kg returning $1170. Webber and Sons, Hivesville, sold murray grey cross steers for $1133 and $3.50c/kg. L Smith ,Mt Larcom, sold 390kg santa steers for $1350 at $3.47 c/kg. 315kg charolais- cross steers, from I and M Buckley, Gayndah, sold for $3.49c/kg returning $1099. A draft of 28 charolais-cross steers, a/c A and K Zerner, Murgon, sold for an average of $1280 at $3.33 c/kg topping at $1280 and $3.45c/kg. Brahman-cross weaner steers from Ban Ban Springs sold for $842 and $3.66c/kg. Charbray weaner steers, from Cherbourg Community Council, sold for $930 at $3.61c/kg. 390kg droughtmaster-cross heifers from Murgon sold for $1115 at $2.83c/kg. 373 kg Braford heifers from Gayndah sold for $1045 at $2.80c/kg. Charolais-cross heifers from Gayndah weighing 358kg sold for $1007 and $2.81c/kg. The top of the vealer heifer market was $3.52c/kg for a $933 return. Most fresher vealer heifers sold in the $3.20–$3.40c/kg bracket. Cows and calves sold to $1550. The next Murgon sale will be held on Tuesday, December 6, from 8am.
