NUM­BERS were up to 1000 in Mur­gon for the fort­nightly sale on Tues­day. The mar­ket for most de­scrip­tions re­mained rea­son­ably firm with the ex­cep­tion of some re­stocker cat­tle eas­ing with the dry weather con­tin­u­ing and pad­dock con­di­tions wors­en­ing. Cat­tle were drawn from Mun­dub­bera, Gayn­dah, Biggen­den, Mono­go­rilby, Yar­ra­man, Nanango, Kin­garoy, Kilki­van and lo­cally. Drought­mas­ter bul­locks from Manyung sold to $1813 at $2.90 c/kg. Santa-cross bul­locks from Wooroolin sold to $1785 at $2.98 c/kg. Four and six-tooth bul­locks from Mun­dub­bera sold for $2.78 c/kg re­turn­ing $1700. 440kg four-tooth grain as­sisted drought­mas­ter heifers from Mur­gon sold to $2.77c/kg for $1300. Heavy cows topped at $2.48 c/kg for $1580.. Cows over 500kg av­er­aged $2.32c/kg. Cows 400–500 kg av­er­aged $2.09c/kg selling to $2.40c/kg. Cows un­der 400kg topped at $1.97c/kg. The best of the heavy bulls yarded sold to $2.51 c/kg and $2250. K and M Arm­strong, Manyung, sold drought­mas­ter steers for $1705 at $3.29c/kg. S and K Au­gus­tine, Mun­dub­bera, sold bran­gus and char­bray steers for $1500 (3.49) and $1430 (3.45) re­spec­tively. 416kg santa-cross steers, a/c Merl­wood En­ter­prises, Mur­gon, sold for $3.46c/kg for $1440. Li­mousin-cross steers, a/c N Labuschewski, Tin­goora, sold to $3.57c/kg re­turn­ing $1170. Web­ber and Sons, Hivesville, sold mur­ray grey cross steers for $1133 and $3.50c/kg. L Smith ,Mt Lar­com, sold 390kg santa steers for $1350 at $3.47 c/kg. 315kg charo­lais- cross steers, from I and M Buck­ley, Gayn­dah, sold for $3.49c/kg re­turn­ing $1099. A draft of 28 charo­lais-cross steers, a/c A and K Zerner, Mur­gon, sold for an av­er­age of $1280 at $3.33 c/kg top­ping at $1280 and $3.45c/kg. Brah­man-cross weaner steers from Ban Ban Springs sold for $842 and $3.66c/kg. Char­bray weaner steers, from Cher­bourg Com­mu­nity Coun­cil, sold for $930 at $3.61c/kg. 390kg drought­mas­ter-cross heifers from Mur­gon sold for $1115 at $2.83c/kg. 373 kg Braford heifers from Gayn­dah sold for $1045 at $2.80c/kg. Charo­lais-cross heifers from Gayn­dah weigh­ing 358kg sold for $1007 and $2.81c/kg. The top of the vealer heifer mar­ket was $3.52c/kg for a $933 re­turn. Most fresher vealer heifers sold in the $3.20–$3.40c/kg bracket. Cows and calves sold to $1550. The next Mur­gon sale will be held on Tues­day, De­cem­ber 6, from 8am.
