Cat­tle mar­ket re­mains firm at Biggen­den sale

THE first meat­works and store sale for 2017 was held on Mon­day at Biggen­den.

With a smaller yard­ing of meat­works cat­tle the mar­ket re­mained firm. In the store sec­tion, a qual­ity line of heifers sold to firm prices with the re­main­der sell­ing with mixed re­sults due to mixed qual­ity.

The yard­ing of 598 head were drawn from Chin­chilla, Gayn­dah, Mundubbera, Miriam Vale, Mt Perry, Boouby­jan, Widgee, Bund­aberg, Gin Gin, Lowmead, Cal­goa and all lo­cal ar­eas.

P&S Ilett, Childers, sold milk and two tooth Drought­mas­ter cross steers for 338c/$1339. Wade For­man, Bund­aberg, sold milk and two tooth Brah­man steers for 338c/$1373. Rod Gib­son, Biggen­den, sold milk and two tooth Bran­gus steers for 337c/$1390. Goatham & Heron, Biggen­den, sold milk tooth Drought­mas­ter steers for 342c/$928. G Ison, Gin Gin, sold milk and two tooth Drought­mas­ter steers for 328c/$1209.

Glenellen Cat­tle Co, Chin­chilla, sold a line of Santa and Brah­man heifers with the San­tas sell­ing from 314c-335c/$947-$1117 and the Brah­man heifers from 314c-320c/$1056-$1212.
