Bris­bane to Eidsvold in string of stolen cars?

A CABOOLTURE man has started off 2017 be­hind bars af­ter al­legedly thiev­ing his way up to Eidsvold.

A po­lice spokesman said the 37-year-old was ar­rested in the North Bur­nett town on Jan­uary 1, af­ter he al­legedly drove sev­eral stolen cars about 370km.

“Po­lice will al­lege the man broke into a home at Mo­ray­field and stole a car,” the spokesman said.

“He then ran out of fuel at Tansey,” he said.

“While there, he broke into an­other home and stole an­other car,” the of­fi­cer fur­ther al­leged.

“He was driv­ing with­out a li­cence on both oc­ca­sions.”

Po­lice also found cannabis on the man when he was ar­rested.

The man was charged with sev­eral of­fences in­clud­ing pos­ses­sion of cannabis, two counts of un­law­ful use of a mo­tor ve­hi­cle, two counts of bur­glary and two counts of driv­ing a ve­hi­cle with­out a li­cence as a re­peat of­fender.

The man was re­manded in cus­tody, where he re­mains. He was is­sued with a no­tice to ap­pear in Bund­aberg Mag­is­trates Court on Jan­uary 23.

Mo­ray­field is about 50km north of Bris­bane.

Tansey is about 85km south of Gayn­dah.
