Police reminder about drinking on the street

Central and North Burnett Times - - NEWS -

MUNDUBBERA Police Sergeant Daniel Clarke has reminded residents not to drink on public streets.

“It’s an offence to consume liquor in a public place,” Sgt Clarke said.

“Offenders or people located consuming liquor in a public place face the possibility of an on-the-spot fine.

“They also face the possibility of a 10-day ban from all licensed premises.”

Sgt Clarke said he was offering the reminder after he heard about instances of people standing on the footpaths out the front of pubs drinking alcohol.

People can only drink in public if the area is declared an official wet area.

Fines can be up to $121.
