Fes­ti­val is your chance to shine

AF­TER the suc­cess of the in­au­gu­ral Heart­land Fes­ti­val in 2016, or­gan­iser Re­nee McGil­very wants to make this year’s fes­ti­val even big­ger and bet­ter.

“We have set the date for the week­end be­gin­ning on Fri­day, June 30, un­til Sun­day, July 2,” Ms McGil­very said.

“We are putting a call out to any busi­nesses, or­gan­i­sa­tions and com­mu­nity groups in the North Bur­nett who would like to run an event to co­in­cide with Heart­land.

“The only thing is it must fo­cus on some­thing pro­duced here in the North Bur­nett.”

Ms McGil­very said all kinds of events were wel­come, from a break­fast or lunch to any­thing that could high­light your pro­duce or busi­ness.

“The Golden Or­ange has come on board and will be hav­ing a twi­light wine and cheese event over­look­ing the Bur­nett River,” Ms McGil­very said.

“Last year we at­tracted 4500 peo­ple to the fes­ti­val and are look­ing to dou­ble that this year, and we hope to get as many peo­ple from the North Bur­nett in­volved as pos­si­ble.

“I’m also pleased to an­nounce that the mar­ket day has been nom­i­nated for Event of the Year for Aus­tralia Day.”
