Festival is your chance to shine
AFTER the success of the inaugural Heartland Festival in 2016, organiser Renee McGilvery wants to make this year’s festival even bigger and better.
“We have set the date for the weekend beginning on Friday, June 30, until Sunday, July 2,” Ms McGilvery said.
“We are putting a call out to any businesses, organisations and community groups in the North Burnett who would like to run an event to coincide with Heartland.
“The only thing is it must focus on something produced here in the North Burnett.”
Ms McGilvery said all kinds of events were welcome, from a breakfast or lunch to anything that could highlight your produce or business.
“The Golden Orange has come on board and will be having a twilight wine and cheese event overlooking the Burnett River,” Ms McGilvery said.
“Last year we attracted 4500 people to the festival and are looking to double that this year, and we hope to get as many people from the North Burnett involved as possible.
“I’m also pleased to announce that the market day has been nominated for Event of the Year for Australia Day.”
