HEATWAVE FORECAST FOR NORTH BURNETT
TEMPERATURES in the North Burnett are expected to soar to a maximum 42 degrees this week.
The heatwave is forecast to start today and continue into the weekend.
Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Michael Knepp said the North Burnett could expect a severe to extreme heatwave from Wednesday into Saturday.
“There will be an air mass coming from the north to north-west which will bring warmer air into the region and it looks to be fairly humid, too,” Mr Knepp said.
“So with that humidity and heat it will be quite bad out there.
“Currently it is looking like there is a lot of potential for an extreme heat event in the Burnett area.”
Temperatures look to remain in the mid 40s on Saturday around Gayndah before easing in the region on Sunday.
“There’s an increasing likelihood of thunderstorms on Saturday and Sunday and that is going to be caused by a southerly change coming through,” Mr Knepp said.
“There’s a chance of rain on Saturday, ahead of that southerly change.”
