Dairy ar­bi­tra­tion

QUEENS­LAND dairy farm­ers have en­tered ar­bi­tra­tion in talks with the state’s largest milk pro­ces­sor, Par­malat, af­ter the groups were un­able to reach an agree­ment on ad­just­ing milk prices be­fore the 2016 con­tract ended on De­cem­ber 31. Queens­land Dairy­farm­ers’ Or­gan­i­sa­tion pres­i­dent Brian Tess­man told the ABC that farm­ers were now op­er­at­ing out­side con­tract and would not be able to re­ceive a con­tract bonus. “I know there have been dif­fer­ent mem­bers of each or­gan­i­sa­tion try to work through and sort out the is­sues, but ba­si­cally they have not been able to agree on what should be the price,” he said
