Crucial life line for North Burnett
RACQ LifeFlight helicopters flew 149 missions to the North Burnett in 2016 including 10 life threatening accidents.
An RACQ LifeFlight spokesmab was able to give a break down of the call outs.
The highest volume of missions were for inter hospital transfers at 125 and of the 149 missions in total 22 were directly related to motor vehicle and motorcycle accidents.
“This number includes when crews arrived on the site of the accident as well as transported between hospitals,” the spokesman said.
Eighty-three missions were for pre existing medical conditions with the most common being cardiac conditions at 22 and abdominal conditions with 18; 16 missions were also conducted for falls, from animals and other various circumstances including farm accidents.
LifeFlight are called for a wide range of incidents, two of the 2016 call outs were for search and rescue missions also.
The 149 missions in a calender year equates to almost three a week, proving the importance of the service provided by LifeFlight to the North Burnett.
