Farewell to a great, wonderful region

Central and North Burnett Times - - YOUR SAY -

DEAR people of the North Burnett,

What a year it has been. I first came to the region about 11 months ago and took over the role of the Mundubbera and Eidsvold journalist.

In that time I have gotten to know many of you and have gotten to know your stories.

From council, court, the Eidsvold Cattle Drive, to cats being stuck in dishwashers and more, it has been an incredible year.

There are a few people I would like to thank before I sign off on my last paper.

Firstly, thank you to Faye Whelan, Robyn Maeyke, the staff at La Famile, Dan Clarke, Paul, Sherrie, Dot and anyone else that has come to me with a story.

Your help in helping me is much appreciated.

Big shout out and thank you to Justine, Annaleigh and Laura. You’ve made life for a city kid out in the country a lot easier.

Thank you to my incredible editor Shannon Newley for being a great boss and to Will Hunter for being a great deputy.

A most of all, thank you to you, our readers. Without you opening up to me, sharing your stories, letting me be there in times of triumph and in times of tragedy, the modern history of the North Burnett certainly wouldn’t be told.

I’m now heading off to help out the folks at the South Burnett Times for a bit, though Mundubbera, Eidsvold and the North Burnett will always hold a special place in my heart.

Yours sincerely,

— Tobi Loftus
