SWIM­MING: Monto State High had its an­nual swim­ming carnival on Fri­day at the Monto Pool. The day was suc­cess­ful, with plenty of cham­pi­onship races, nov­elty events, broken records and cheers.

Cook was awarded cham­pion house and Russell won the nov­elty shield.

Molly Sal­is­bury and Lu­cas Splet­ter were age 12 cham­pi­ons, Chelsea Knight and Bray­den Rigg were age 13 cham­pi­ons, Lailah Mitchell and Blake Bar­nett age 14, Sascha Dowl­ing and Daniel Phillips age 15, Lana Keit­ley and An­gus Dow age 16, Ale­cia Rigg and Brenton Dowl­ing age 17 and Sarah Black and Troy John­ston were the open cham­pi­ons.

A num­ber of records were broken, in­clud­ing Ale­cia Rigg for 17 girls back­stroke 36.40, Bray­den Rigg for 13 boys but­ter­fly 40.42, An­gus Dow for 16 boys back­stroke 37.21, and Troy John­ston for open boys back­stroke 50.00.

Brenton Dowl­ing broke 17 boys freestyle 30.35, back­stroke 37.55 and but­ter­fly 32.40.
