Crucial to keep rural fire brigades up to standard
THE Coalstoun Lakes Fire Brigade has submitted an application for funding through the Rural Fire Levy funds collected by the North Burnett Regional Council.
North Burnett Regional Council addressed the application during the January council meeting.
The rural Fire Levy contributes to the cost of operating rural fire brigades within the council.
Coalstoun Lakes Fire Brigade submitted the application to obtain funds on three separate issues beginning with reimbursement of maintenance expenses, evaluated at a cost of $328.41.
Along with $261.75 to modify the slip on units and a further $500.00 for the purchase of a trailer.
The application is able to be funded within the current budget allocation of council and in accordance with the North Burnett Regional Council Revenue Policy and Statement.
Council has approved the application on all three requests and expenditure will be in accordance with Council General Policy 248 and Policy No. 215 Rural Fire Brigade Units Utilisation.
QFES Burnett Area Director Neil Kelso could not be reached for comment on the funding allocations.
Funding is part of Disaster Management where council co-ordinates responses and builds community resilience in the face of natural and man made disasters.
