AS KIDS across Australia started school last month, the way one teacher welcomed her new students melted hearts nationwide. The Queensland primary school teacher gave this note to each of her Year 4 students.

Bowen State School then shared a picture of the note on their Facebook page.

And it went viral. Last count, it had been shared 31,000 times and garnered 12,000 likes and 2000 comments.

The school's Facebook page was also inundated with praise for the teacher, who wasn’t publicly named.

"Dear Year 4 Teacher, What a brilliant way to welcome your new class. I wish that I had thought of doing that when I was teaching," Jenny Chapman wrote.

"I would like to congratulate your school on... the wonderful welcoming letter you give to your students from the teacher/s," wrote Nat Johnston.

A Department of Education and Training representative said the teacher did not write the note and was not passing it off as her own.

"She found it and thought it was nice."

The notewent viral after being shared on Facebook.
