In­ves­ti­ga­tion into ac­ci­dent at Biggen­den Meat­works

QUEENS­LAND Work­place Health and Safety is in­ves­ti­gat­ing a se­ri­ous ac­ci­dent at Biggen­den Meat­works on Tues­day.

Queens­land Am­bu­lance Ser­vice re­ceived a call at 8.31am.

The ac­ci­dent re­sulted in a 40-year-old man be­ing taken to Biggen­den Hospi­tal by am­bu­lance and then air­lifted to Bris­bane where he was re­ported to be in a crit­i­cal con­di­tion.

The man re­ceived sig­nif­i­cant head and fa­cial in­juries af­ter be­ing struck by a ramp while un­load­ing pigs, a Queens­land Work­place Health and Safety spokesman said on Tues­day.

A Queens­land Health spokes­woman con­firmed later in the day the man was in a crit­i­cal con­di­tion but no fur­ther in­for­ma­tion from au­thor­i­ties has been avail­able since that time.

Work­place Health and Safety in­spec­tors have started their in­ves­ti­ga­tions.
