Investigation into accident at Biggenden Meatworks
QUEENSLAND Workplace Health and Safety is investigating a serious accident at Biggenden Meatworks on Tuesday.
Queensland Ambulance Service received a call at 8.31am.
The accident resulted in a 40-year-old man being taken to Biggenden Hospital by ambulance and then airlifted to Brisbane where he was reported to be in a critical condition.
The man received significant head and facial injuries after being struck by a ramp while unloading pigs, a Queensland Workplace Health and Safety spokesman said on Tuesday.
A Queensland Health spokeswoman confirmed later in the day the man was in a critical condition but no further information from authorities has been available since that time.
Workplace Health and Safety inspectors have started their investigations.
