NUMBERS grew to 1450 at Murgon’s sale on Tuesday, mainly due to the continuing dry conditions.
The market was easier for most descriptions but in general most of the cattle yarded still sold to strong rates. Outside competition from the Downs and New South Wales was a big contributor to those rates.
Cattle were drawn from Eidsvold, Mundubbera, Gayndah, Mt Perry, Biggenden, Yarraman, Kingaroy, Nanango and locally.
Heavy export steers sold to $3.05 c/kg and $1622. Bulls topped at $2.55 c/kg and $2400.
Heavy cows were slightly easier, selling to $2.48 c/kg with cows over 500kg averaging $2.29 c/kg.
Cows 400-500kg topped at $2.34 averaging $2.17 c/kg. Lighter Cows sold to $2.05 c/kg.
Export heifers sold to $2.93 c/kg for $1539.00. 440kg Charbray steers from Emjay Charbrays, Goomeri, sold to $3.33 c/kg for $1468.
