Anzac Day events will cause road closures
THE Gayndah RSL Sub Branch wishes to inform the public of road closures and the event schedule for upcoming Anzac Day commemorations.
Newly appointed Gayndah RSL sub branch secretary Susan Johnstone said it would be ideal if all residents were aware of closures and times.
Roads will be closed from 9.30–11am on Anzac Day, April 25, for the parade from Bridge St to Simon St and Pineapple, between Capper and Queen sts.
“We are closing the road for our Anzac Day ceremonies which include the 4.30am dawn service at the cenotaph and then from 9.30am until 11am for the actual parade,” Mrs Johnstone said.
“We will be having our gunfire breakfast at the Gayndah RSL Hall from 6am and that will be $5 per head, with proceeds going back to the RSL.”
Lunch will be held at the RSL Hall and tickets are $10.
Current and ex-service personnel are provided lunch free of charge.
“We would hope that again this year we get a good turnout of both veterans and the public,” Mrs Johnstone said.
