Make office space work for you

Central and North Burnett Times - - HOME - With Tracey Hordern

AS MORE of us work at home, it makes sense to create a stylish home office that is inspirational. There are plenty of affordable options to style a home office and create a space that encourages productivity.

Regardless of your style preferences, essentials include a desk, chair and storage. But that doesn’t mean these foundation pieces have to conform to a dreary corporate look.

For your desk, you could go the traditional route with a timber desk or, alternatively, you could repurpose a dining table, or choose a funky trestle table. Your next must-have is a chair. Whether you choose an ergonomic executive style chair, or a beautiful antique chair, ensure it is supremely comfortable.

The next element you would need is storage. Here there is an abundance of choice, from retro pieces to classical filing cabinets. Ideally, stick with a theme. For instance, if your chair and table scream mid-century chic, in the style of Madmen, then keep with that style for your storage.

When it comes to lighting, clocks and other basic office equipment, choose what personally brings you joy. Add a fabulous rug in a weave that inspires you. Ultimately, you want your office to be a place where you happily spend time.

Last but not least are decorative accessories for your workspace. Remember, it’s your office and no one can tell you what’s appropriate. But if you want inspiration then choose pieces such as a vision board, photos, an uplifting candle, art and lots of lush plants that cleanse the air and represent growth and prosperity.
