GOLF: The Eidsvold golf course had an impressive turn-out for stroke competition with around 20 golfers bracing the heat.

President of Eidsvold golf Terry Haupt said the past few weeks have been good.

“Numbers seem to rise now which is a good thing, however not all weeks are like that,” Haupt said.

“Some of the players have to travel far for their jobs so whenever they’re here, they’ll play a game.”

Stroke competition is mixed with ladies and men and was won by Bob Murray with nett 63. Runner up was Matthew Murray with nett of 65 followed by Steven Pointion with nett of 66. Pin shot on hole six was won by Marie Murray and approach shot on hole two was won by Steven Pointion. The Eidsvold Carnival that was cancelled due to wild weather has now been postponed until September 24. It will involve competitors from across the Wide Bay and North Burnett.
