GETTING SHOW READY
Annual North Burnett season is in full swing
THE 2017 Annual Mount Perry Show is on again this coming Saturday, April 22 and will showcase some of the best elements of country living and the rustic charm of Mount Perry itself.
Mount Perry Show Society secretary Kerry Bettiens said there would be plenty of entertainment on offer for people of all ages.
“The gates will open from 7am and our first event starts with the cutting horse event,” Mrs Bettiens said.
“That will be followed by the team penning competition and our working dog trials and our champion dog show will still be on at the Mount Perry Show.
“We will have all of our regular ring events and of course our prime and stud cattle competitions.”
The market stalls always prove to be a popular attraction for visitors and Mrs Bettiens makes sure that the show provides that each year.
“We do have quite a few market stalls coming again this year, a wide variety of stalls from near and far,” Mrs Bettiens said.
“Some of them have come quite a long way to be at our show every year so we have a very good stall line up, as we usually do.”
Another of the big appeals for the Mount Perry Show is free camping at the show grounds.
“Along with toilets and showers, availability of power is limited though and you will need to be camped out of the way of the show itself,” Mrs Bettiens said.
“But the availability is there and we also have a caravan park and reserve in town to complement that.”
A fireworks display will help continue the evening’s festivities and will be on at 8pm followed by live entertainment from Wal Neilsen, who will be playing until 11pm at night with a licensed bar open until that time.
Rooftop Express will be the headline act and are expected to be on at around 5pm to keep the crowd entertained.
“It will depend on the other ring events and how long they run,” Mrs Bettiens said.
And of course all the traditional show day features will be returning such as the side show alley and rides.
“We will have rides but unfortunately we don’t have too much control over that,” Mrs Bettiens said.
There will also be a huge range of food to choose from and local arts and crafts on sale through the market stalls.
The Mount Perry Show is a great day out for the whole family and a great day trip out to a small town steeped in Queensland history and culture.
Entry into the show will be $10 for adults, $5 for high school age kids and free for kids primary school age or under.
The Mount Perry show grounds are located on Monto-Mount Perry Road.
TEAM PENNING: The event will again be a feature of the Mt Perry Show.
