Church market day makes a difference

Central and North Burnett Times - - NEWS -

THE Uniting Church Easter markets in Mundubbera were a success at the weekend with close to $1000 dollars raised for LifeFlight.

Sally Wells, from the market committee, said the community support had been fantastic.

“We’re really happy with the support from the public with LifeFlight, because the proceeds will go to them,” Mrs Wells said.

LifeFlight is one of Australia’s largest aero-medical charities providing rapid response medical care to thousands of people each year.

It has flown 45,000 critical rescue missions over the past 36 years.

“We decided to donate proceeds to LifeFlight as it costs them so much every flight they come in to pick a patient up; it costs them hundreds of dollars,” Mrs Wells said.

Honorary treasurer of the Uniting Church in Mundubbera, Janelle Hams, said the overall success of the markets was a result of the community’s support.

“We raised $963 for LifeFlight which is a very good effort and can help them out a lot,” she said.

The next market for Mundubbera is on May 20.
