Grants to make road safer
THE latest round of grants to help community-based groups, schools and local government improve road safety has opened today.
Main Roads and Road Safety Minister Mark Bailey said grass-roots groups would have until May 26 to submit their applications.
The grants program, now in its fourth year, was an opportunity for the community to target road safety issues in the local area.
“So far the community road safety grants program has committed more than $15 million to 166 community groups to implement 242 initiatives, including bicycle and child restraint education, resources and training, heavy vehicle fatigue initiatives and learner driver programs,” Mr Bailey said.
