Players tie in golf comp

Central and North Burnett Times - - SPORT -

GOLF: It was the Easter weekend and golf players were unsure whether or not a competition would be held but that didn’t deter some players who braced the course on Sunday to tee off.

Captain of Eidsvold golf course, Matthew Murray, said despite the numbers being down from the week before, he was confident it was only because of the long weekend.

“Definitely, it was known beforehand with the Easter weekend that players were going away with their family so they couldn’t be here to play,” Murray said.

“It’s not concerning, I’m sure numbers will bounce back at the start of next week and we’ll be around our average for the course.”

The competition ended with a tie, with Bob Bramley the winner on nett 65 on a countback from Russel Rose on nett 65. Closest to the pin went to Bob Bramley on hole five and approach shot on hole three went to Ken Christensen.

Sunday competitions start at 1pm in Eidsvold.
