NORTH Bur­nett Re­gional Coun­cil is con­duct­ing a se­ries of co-or­di­nated wild dog and feral pig bait­ing work­shops from May 9–12.

May 9 will be Durong/Hawk­wood Rd for Mun­dub­bera and Hur­dle Gully (Avis Yards) for Monto.

May 10 will be Ker­wee-Hol­ly­well Rd for Eidsvold and Brian Pas­tures Rd for Gayn­dah.

May 11 will be Eidsvold/The­o­r­dore Rd, Red­bank turnoff, for Eidsvold and Bull Pen, Isis Hwy, for Biggenden.

May 12 will be Briggs Yards for Mt Perry and the Mt Perry and Tay­lors Rd cor­ner for Gayn­dah.

1080 bait poi­son will be sup­plied on the day, pro­vided at­tend­ing land­hold­ers pro­vide their rates no­tice and Author­ity to Sign form if col­lect­ing on be­half of oth­ers.

They must also ad­here to all nec­es­sary pre­cau­tions about the lay­ing of bait, in­clud­ing giv­ing 72 hours no­tice to neigh­bours and keep­ing bait at least 2km from in­hab­ited ar­eas and 5km from towns.

Coun­cil chief ex­ec­u­tive of­fi­cer Mark Pitt said feral an­i­mals were a con­tin­ual prob­lem all year around.

“Com­ing into winter, now would be a good time to run the pro­gram,” Mr Pitt said.

“The more peo­ple you can get to par­tic­i­pate the bet­ter, be­cause with a re­gion-wide spread, the an­i­mals can’t just move to an­other area.”
