Clearing commenced for bridge
THE Deep Creek Bridge on the Gayndah-Mundubbera Road is being replaced after the torrential rain damaged it in March.
North Burnett Regional Council Mayor Rachel Chambers said it was a good initiative by the government.
“It’s great to see work begin on this project, as part of the redesign, the width of the bridge will be increased to two lanes and the height of the deck will be raised by three metres,” Cr Chambers said.
“This will improve flood resilience and the safety of road users at this location, and with funding arrangements we will start the approaches first.”
The project is expected to be completed mid June of 2018.
