MULGILDIE Hotel is raising money for the Rex Theatre with a special Fun Day market. Starting from 7am and running through to 6pm, the event promises a full day of activity. Many markets have already been booked, including Arthur Hamblin on site painting, The Honey Man, The Linen Lady, Suzy’s Horse Gear, Rob The Mat Man, Ruth and Roy’s Colourful Clothing, Monto High School Cake Stall, The Lemonade Lady, Fe’s Essential Oils, Himalayan Salts, Baby wear, Doonas etc., Mulgildie Rodeo Camp Draft Stall, Plants, Jewellery stall, and more. Publican Julie South, said they were doing this year’s fundraiser to support Project Rex. “We’ve been here for 13 years and always done a raffle night every few months for a charity group,” she said. “Stalls are $10 each and everything goes to the Rex theatre, it’s all for the Rex.” Project Rex is a not-for-profit community organisation that is restoring the old Rex Picture theatre in Monto into a new creative and cultural centre. Mrs South got in touch with project organiser Carly Burnham and offered to use their raffle night to raise money. “We’ve also got raffle tickets here with a $320 meat hamper for first prize, dinner for two at the Mulgildie Hotel as second prize and two large pizzas as third prize,” she said. Mrs South will also be on hand with her own store as the “Linen Lady.” “I’ve got good quality hotel towels, sheets, pillow cases, tea towels, whatever you can think of,” she said. With the markets running most of the day, there will be a display of motorbikes from 10am to provide a talking point for the event. Anyone can put a bike on display, and with a lot of classic Harleys and possibly some Three wheelers expected to turn up, it’s a prime opportunity to showcase your bikes next to the big boys. Mrs South said the bikes would be a unique hook and pep up the day. “Everyone loves motorbikes,” she said. Later in the evening from 6pm, there will be a Filipino Night held at the pub, $25 per plate, where members of the Filipino community will provide authentic traditional cooking. To book a stall or a spot at the table for Filipino Night, call Julie at the Mulgildie Pub 41672242.
