Hostel offers backpackers a real trip to remember
POSSCO’s Mark Postle said the new Mundubbera hostel offered backpackers quality facilities.
“There was a lady that came in just before and she backpacks around Europe. She said there’s nothing like this, she said it’s so new,” Mr Postle said.
“You can go play pool or go to the gym, we have a jukebox as well.
“Everyone at the hostel is given lockers to keep their items safe, we have washing machines and dryers and I think it’s a pretty good hostel, it’s very homely.”
The idea came from Mr Postle’s wife Jenny.
“Well it was all Jenny’s idea, I said to her what can we do with the building, it was empty on the main street and she just said backpackers,” Mr Postle said.
“Once I walked in and saw it for myself I thought hang on, she has a good point and then we proceeded with it all.”
Mr Postle said the hostel would put on monthly barbecues for guests and to promote our local produce here in Mundubbera.
“We want to show the backpackers the wonderful tourist attractions we have in the North Burnett region so they experience the good country life,” he said.
“Hopefully we can keep enticing backpackers to come and have a look at what Mundubbera can offer them.”
Mundubbera is the only North Burnett town to have a hostel.
“We are hoping to draw backpackers from across the whole region,” Mr Postle said.
