Dressing up in orange to support SES workers

Central and North Burnett Times - - NEWS -

YESTREDAY was Wear Orange Wednesday (WOW Day) where people dress up in orange to support our SES volunteers.

Did you pick out some orange from the wardrobe to raise awareness for the SES?

It’s an easy way to show support for the volunteers.

WOW Day this year coincided with National Volunteer Week, which celebrates the spirit of volunteering.

The SES are one of the first volunteer services who respond to major disasters, land searches, disaster recovery and flood rescues just to name a few.

There are 40,000 SES volunteers across Australia, and the North Burnett branch is always on the lookout for helpers.

SES had over 20 call outs across the North Burnett last year, attending to seven fatalities.

These included land searches, traffic control, logging accidents and storm damage.

Those looking to take the next step and volunteer with North Burnett SES can email controller Brian Lowe at sescontroller@northburnett.qld.gov.au.
