Central and North Burnett Times - - NEWS -

MULGILDIE Hotel’s Fun Day market to raise money for the Rex Theatre was a success on Saturday, raising roughly $750.

With markets running from 7am to 5pm, there was plenty of time for people to drop by the hotel to check out the goods on display.

Several vendors travelled to set up shop at the markets, such as Derek Jones who bought honey from Gin Gin, or artist Arthur Hamblin who came all the way up from the Gold Coast.

Mulgildie Hotel publican Julie South said they were looking at doing another market in three to four months.

“Everyone was really really pleased and I looked out a lot of times to see cars lined up on the street,” Mrs South said.

“Nearly all of the vendors reported good sales, and a lot of them have said they’re eager to come back next time.”

According to Julie, crowds peaked at midday before dropping off around 3pm, likely coming off lunch break.

There are plans for the next charity market to run in early September, with proceeds going toward Cancer Council Queensland.
