Biggenden outpegged by the Sporties
DARTS: Biggenden Darts Club teams were outplayed by their counterparts, the Hervey Bay Sporties at a two-day social event at the Commercial Hotel.
The club either travels or plays host to other darts clubs through the year.
At the weekend with some Biggenden players involved in Mother’s Day duties, Sporties players evened up the teams.
Biggenden club captain Leanne Duncan said it was a great weekend.
“We shared lots of laughs and were reacquainted with old friends,” she said.
For Sporties’ Kath James, it was great to be back in her former home town.
She said she had only been back playing darts for the Sporties for four weeks.
“I was pleased to be able to then play for Biggenden when they were short of players,” she said.
One of the highlights for her was being able to watch son Alex back playing football for the Warriors on Saturday night.
Sporties player Annae Benstead said her group was busy preparing for an invitational weekend of darts on June 10-11.
“As we have so many players nominated we are having the event at the Hervey Bay RSL Club,” she said.
“There will be players from around the region including Nanango, Biggenden and Kingaroy.”
The final score of the weekend was Sporties 75 to Biggenden 37.
For Biggenden most tons went to Corey Doyle and Leanne Duncan. Highest ton, Keith Horwood and Kathy James. Most pegs Keith Horwood and Kathy James. Highest peg out, Corey Doyle and Kathy James. There were no bull finishes for Biggenden players while Kath James threw a high score of 180.
At the end of the day, both teams play a grudge match of 1001. This was won by Biggenden’s Keith Horwood.
