THE latest underwater fitness craze is making its way to Eidsvold.

Designed and made in Italy, the Eidsvold Acquapole is the first to hit regional Queensland.

It offers a new way to exercise while swimming.

Eidsvold swimming instructor Debbra O’Rourke said it was positive news for the town.

“Acquapole Australia did a course on the Gold Coast and I attended the course and I am now the first of 60 in Australia to have an international Acquapole certificate,” Mrs O’Rourke said.

Primarily used for core based activities, the Acquapole enhances specific muscles and improves cardio. It can also transform into a boxing bag.

“I’m a level one Acquapole coach, you have to have the coaching certificate before they’ll allow you to have your pole in a centre,” Mrs O’Rourke said.

“What I am now looking at doing is getting money under a business loan and buying four more which means that we can have eight people in the water and I’m going to take it around to all the different regions.”

Bringing it to Eidsvold had its challenges, Mrs O’Rourke said.

“To get this in Eidsvold was to stop people looking at it as just a pole, whereas it can turn into a boxing bag and several other things,” she said.

“Everyone gets things

being in the city, so for us to get the Acquapole is good news for the town.

“They’ll be going to pools and to towns in the region like Mundubbera, Monto, Biggenden, Mount Perry, Gayndah and of course Eidsvold.”

Acquapole will be available from the start of summer.
