Body conditioning in bootcamp style
FITNESS: The Body N Barre bootcamp has officially launched in Mundubbera with about 15 participants eager to get fit.
The six-week challenge addresses strength, posture and body conditioning.
Founder of Body N Barre Erin Hansen said her recent move from the big city prompted her to set up the fitness group.
“I just moved to Mundubbera with my fiance and saw that no classes were here,” Hansen said.
“I thought it was a great opportunity to organise a bootcamp where the community can get involved in and show their support for one another.
“It’s a great asset to the community and has been operating for the past two weeks.”
The class, now in its third week, is seeing more people take part.
“So with the bootcamp, it’s a six-week challenge which is open to anyone to join,” Hansen said.
“Bootcamp is like a circuit games activity consisting of barre, yoga and Pilates-style classes.”
Hansen was a registered nurse in Brisbane as well as a qualified personal trainer.
She said correcting fitness techniques was a vital part of getting in shape.
“I’ve always been involved with fitness as I’ve been a personal trainer for the past two years,” Hansen said.
“When I was in Brisbane, I was a PT and a senior PT and that really drove me to help people to reach their goals, especially as a nurse.
“You see a lot of people that didn’t have the correct body techniques and it’s proved costly.”
The fitness classes are on weekdays.
“Monday to Thursday we have classes that begin at 5.30am and another session at 5.30pm, and you work on a few things,” Hansen said.
“On Friday, classes start at 5.30am and at night they start at 5.15pm, so 15 minutes earlier.”
The classes are held behind the Baptist Church at 73 Leichardt St.
“Fitness is important as it allows us to do daily activities and improves all elements of the body,” Hansen said.
“With bootcamp, it’s a supportive environment and you tend to have a connection with the group as they all have similar goals to you.”
