Pur­cell wins the day

GOLF: Rod Pur­cell showed some fine form at the Gayndah Golf Club dur­ing Tues­day’s vets game af­ter post­ing a win­ning round of 26 points against nine other com­peti­tors.

Pur­cell beat out joint run­ners-up Car­men Matt­son and Vic Bryant, who each posted to­tal round scores of 22 points. Pur­cell also se­cured the pin shot on hole five at just 6.5m.

As is stan­dard, the Thurs­day so­cials game drew the most play­ers for the week with 17.

John Mu­lally was able to win the Thurs­day sporters with a nice round of 33 points, edg­ing out Bev Em­mer­ton who fin­ished on 30 points and Kevin Gib­son on 26 points.

Em­mer­ton was also able to get her name on the score­board for the putting com­pe­ti­tion, hav­ing the most won putts with four.

The week­end com­pe­ti­tion had a drop in num­bers with just six play­ers, how­ever it was still Peter Ul­coq’s day, with a score of 63 in the shoot-out round on Satur­day, May 20.
