Purcell wins the day
GOLF: Rod Purcell showed some fine form at the Gayndah Golf Club during Tuesday’s vets game after posting a winning round of 26 points against nine other competitors.
Purcell beat out joint runners-up Carmen Mattson and Vic Bryant, who each posted total round scores of 22 points. Purcell also secured the pin shot on hole five at just 6.5m.
As is standard, the Thursday socials game drew the most players for the week with 17.
John Mulally was able to win the Thursday sporters with a nice round of 33 points, edging out Bev Emmerton who finished on 30 points and Kevin Gibson on 26 points.
Emmerton was also able to get her name on the scoreboard for the putting competition, having the most won putts with four.
The weekend competition had a drop in numbers with just six players, however it was still Peter Ulcoq’s day, with a score of 63 in the shoot-out round on Saturday, May 20.
