GO ON a guided walk be­fore re­tir­ing to award-win­ning deluxe ac­com­mo­da­tion, in­dul­gent spa baths and fine lo­cal cui­sine in the Sun­shine Coast hin­ter­land. Small-group guided walk spe­cial­ists Trop­i­cal Treks and Montville’s Nar­rows Es­cape Rain­for­est Re­treat have launched a three-day pack­age that in­cludes a full-day guided walk in the Sun­shine Coast hin­ter­land, two nights’ ac­com­mo­da­tion in a rain­for­est pav­il­ion, gourmet lo­cal-pro­duce break­fasts, a din­ner in Montville and a bar­be­cue din­ner.

The award-win­ning Nar­rows Es­cape Rain­for­est Re­treat is near Montville, ad­ja­cent to the Hin­ter­land Great Walk. Each pav­il­ion is lo­cated in the midst of rain­for­est, of­fer­ing to­tal pri­vacy and high-qual­ity fa­cil­i­ties in­clud­ing king size beds, kitchen, spa bath, lounge room and ve­randa.

On their first af­ter­noon, guests can be trans­ferred to one of the walks for a short in­tro­duc­tory self-guided walk, or they can ex­plore the vil­lages of Montville and Maleny. Din­ner on the first night is at a lo­cal restau­rant, with trans­fers in­cluded.

Day two starts with break­fast in the pav­il­ion fol­lowed by a mid-morn­ing de­par­ture for the guided walk. The walk, which takes about five hours, in­cludes a healthy pic­nic lunch and snacks and the day con­cludes with a bar­be­cue din­ner on the ve­randa of the Nar­rows pav­il­ion.

The well-man­aged trails pass un­der a sub­trop­i­cal rain­for­est canopy and through open eu­ca­lypt forests that con­tain abun­dant wildlife, in­clud­ing koalas and more than 300 trop­i­cal bird species.

Day three be­gins with fresh crois­sants de­liv­ered to the pav­il­ion to com­ple­ment the lo­cal pro­duce pro­vided for a leisurely break­fast be­fore guests ex­plore the hin­ter­land vil­lages and land­scape.
