Volleyballers make their town proud
VOLLEYBALL: Impressive results in Toowoomba show that volleyball’s future looks bright in the North Burnett.
Recently placing sixth in Toowoomba for volleyball, Mundubbera State School students competed to the best of their ability with praises from the wider public.
The students competed in under-16 division two.
Mundubbera State School volleyball coach, Adrian Brady, said he was pleased with how his team performed and represented their school.
“Loretto College were dominating our pool significantly beating each team they went against,” Brady said.
“We were not doing so well and came up against them in our fourth game.
“After losing the first set 23–25 the girls came out very aggressive not only winning the next set 25–13, but also the final set 15–13.”
“Beating the number one team in our pool is a great accomplishment as Loretto later went on to win second in the tournament.”
Officials commented on the sportsmanship shown by the Mundubbera team.
“Coaches from opposing teams, Volleyball QLD officials and spectators alike commented on how upbeat and determined the Mundubbera team was,” Brady said.
“The overall goal is to prepare them for trials next year, however after the great success at state on the weekend the girls are attempting to convince me to nominate them in the Australian Volleyball All Schools Cup in Melbourne. We will see.”
