BINGO at Biggenden has come full circle and in recent weeks its weekly venue has reverted back to the Grand Hotel.

Co-ordinator Colleen Cunliffe said bingo had filled a void in the social life of residents across the district.

“Since it started, 12 organisations have benefited from the $13,100 raised,” she said.

“Each week the organisation rostered on receives a donation from selling raffle tickets.”

Woowoonga Hall Committee treasurer Estelle Aberdein said revenue from the bingo raffle assisted their organisation greatly.

“Like all other organisations our insurances and public liability increase each year,” she said.

“To continue operating we have to fundraise to cover these costs.”

Mrs Aberdein said the committee organises bush breakfasts for Mother’s Day and Father’s Day.

“Any extra revenue we are purchasing extra tables and chairs for the hall,” she said.

“With only a small committee, the donation from bingo is greatly appreciated.”

Mrs Cunliffe said due to bingo being so popular Biggenden Lions Community Aged Care and Biggenden Hospital Auxiliary would also be benefiting each week.
