Council looks into roundabout options
THE North Burnett Regional Council was productive last week repainting stop sign lines for Mundubbera drivers after it was reported they were being ignored.
As reported in last week’s Central and North Burnett Times, residents raised the possibility of replacing stop signs on Leichhardt and Bouverie streets in Mundubbera with a roundabout, to increase driver safety.
North Burnett Regional Council Deputy Mayor Faye Whelan, said it was the first time the issue was brought up with her and that the council would look at investigating viable options.
“I think it could be investigated seeing as it was considered by a community member,” Cr Whelan said.
“I’m not too sure how much room you would need.
“Distance could be a problem as that’s the route of the trucks going out to the orchards and a lot of people go that way to the highway.”
“Our council is always looking for ways to better the region so this one will be something we’ll look at more closely.”
