Bur­nett busi­ness­woman takes top award

MUN­DUB­BERA-BORN busi­ness­woman Kim McCosker has been cast into the in­ter­na­tional spot­light af­ter claim­ing top hon­ours at the Gour­mand World Cook­book Awards.

Of­ten re­ferred to as the ‘Os­cars of the cook­book world’ the awards fea­ture works from iden­ti­ties such as Jamie Oliver and Dr Deepak Cho­pra.

How­ever, de­spite con­sid­er­ing her­self “a very small fish in a large pond”, Mrs McCosker’s Slow Cooker book was awarded Cook­books Best Sell­ing Au­thor at the cer­e­mony held in Yan­tai, China, ear­lier this month.

She won the award against seven other short­listed au­thors from Canada, France, Ja­pan, Rus­sia, Switzer­land, United King­dom and the USA.

“It was re­ally sur­pris­ing to win but fan­tas­tic too,” Mrs McCosker said.

“The ex­pe­ri­ence was amaz­ing and the cat­e­gory we were in was one of the big­ger cat­e­gories too.”

The au­thor of the suc­cess­ful 4 In­gre­di­ents cook­books said it was a hugely re­ward­ing trip.
