Shooters gather for annual event
SHOOTING: Central Burnett Gun Club member Liz Stevens believes anyone can become a top shot, you just need the right mindset.
“It’s mind over matter, it’s easy for people to over-think it and as a result you don’t get the best result,” Stevens said.
“I believe anyone can become a shooter but you’ve just got to remember not to over-think it.
“You should just relax, get out there and concentrate on those three to four seconds and that’s it. Once you’ve shot, walk away and breathe.”
Participants from across Queensland came together

at the weekend for the club’s annual two-day shoot.
Stevens said the majority of members who had a shoot performed well.
“Like all clubs out there we were hoping for a bigger turnout but due to other sports taking place we only had a limited amount of members make it to the two-day shoot,” she said.
“We had people come from Biloela, Chinchilla, Gladstone and even as far as the Sunshine Coast.”
Stevens has been a member for the past 10 months and said she has seen some talent coming through at the gun club.
Gifford Stevens and Brent Chambers are two members who have shown massive improvement at the Central Burnett Gun Club this season.
Chambers, who participated in the annual two-day shoot at the weekend, recently upgraded from C to B-grade.
“Every club has their two-day shoot so since Mundubbera have held theirs, it’ll be another club that will host it,” Stevens said.
“Since all members came here, we should make the effort to attend their club and support them on their two-day shoot.”
The Central Burnett Gun Club is always on the lookout for new members.
“Those interested should come on the third Sunday of every month and we’ll be here shooting,” Stevens said.
“You can call the club on 4161 3146 to find out more on what we do.”
