Auto Festival revving ahead on Saturday
AUTO FEST: The Burnett Auto Club will hold its third annual car show, Monto Auto Fest 2017, on the grounds at 391 Airport Rd on Saturday, June 24.
There will be a show and shine to give people the chance to show off cars they’ve been working on and burnouts to let people put their scrappier vehicles to the test.
Auto Club treasurer Tegan Araya said the burnouts had become the highlight of the festival.
“The first year we only had about 10 burnout cars, last year we had 24,” Mrs Araya said.
Everything is nominated on the day, so anyone can drive up to enter their car in the show and shine or the burnouts.
Prizes range from car wash, sponges, oil, coolant, right up to a set of four tyres.
The club has received about $6000 worth of cash and products donated by local businesses.
The gates will open to the public at 9am, with the burnouts starting at 10am.
There will be food and drinks, face painting, a jumping castle, ice cream van and market stalls.
