Climate guru to visit Mundubbera next week

Central and North Burnett Times - - RURAL LIFE -

THE Central Burnett Landcare group will host a day with climate guru Professor Roger Stone in Mundubbera on Wednesday, June 28.

Professor Stone has a background in applied environmental science, especially weather forecasting and climate science.

His particular interest has been in using the knowledge we have gained about weather prediction to assist rural industries to adapt to constant changes, as Australia has some of the harshest weather conditions on the globe.

Also speaking on the day will be Australian Department of Agriculture and Fisheries climate risk project manager Damien O’Sullivan.

Central Burnett Landcare secretary Marion Denholm said the group was delighted to host Professor Stone.

“It’s a rare opportunity to hear someone of this calibre speak in a rural area, especially Professor Stone, who has such an interest in farming activities and how they are affected by weather,” Ms Denholm said.
