Follow in Che’s footsteps on two wheels
BIKE Odyssey, a newly launched bicycle tour operator founded by Sam Wood, formerly of Ride and Seek, has announced a Chile and Argentina tour tracing the footsteps of Che Guevara.
The 29-day Che-Bariloche to Santiago tour covers 2351km from Bariloche to Santiago and is scheduled for November 17 to December 18 next year.
It will be broken into two 14-day stages, and prices start at $6486 a stage or $12,637 for the entire tour.
“While our cycling will be tempered by the need to explore the pristine surroundings, in the first week we will ascend (and descend) the height of Mt Everest and in the second we will conquer, in vertical metres, the highest peak of the Andes, Mt Aconcagua,” Wood said.
“Our daily rides will be buttressed between volcanoes, lakes and thermal springs, coupled with the rocky coastline and the delectable delights of the region’s finest wines.”
Accommodation will include national park lodges, designer hotels on the Pacific coast and wineries. Bike Odyssey spares no expense on the cuisine, arranging dinners at some of the finest restaurants in the region.
