A sea of purple and orange converged on the School’s oval last Thursday and Friday to contest the annual Monto High School Athletics Carnival. During the weeks leading up to the 2-day carnival, a number of lunch-time events were held, with Russell beginning the day with a 3-point lead ahead of rivals Cook. The competition was fierce with both teams battling it out on the track and field. A number of records were broken throughout the carnival in the both track and field events, with the most notable being a track record that had stood for 32 years. Whilst the competition was hot on the track, there was plenty of action happening with the novelty events and the Team war cries, all contributing points towards to the Novelty Shield. After a hard fought battle across the events, Russell House grabbed victory on the day, with Cook House winning the Novelty Shield. Congratulations to all students who competed and supported their teams and a huge thankyou to the staff and volunteers who assisted in making the event a success.
