Hundreds cast a line for a job
FISHERIES Queensland has received more than 330 applications from people who want to join the Queensland Boating and Fisheries Patrol.
Fisheries Minister Bill Byrne said there was clearly strong competition for the 20 new frontline positions announced last month in the State Budget, coinciding with the launch of the Sustainable Fisheries Strategy.
“QBFP has a critical role in ensuring fisheries resources and habitats are managed sustainably for the future,” Mr Byrne said.
“It is the role of the QBFP to ensure the compliance of more than 642,000 recreational fishers and 1705 commercial fishing licence holders.”
Applications are closed.
