Motorist fined for failing to pull over
Burnett police issue warning to drivers evading officers
BURNETT police are warning motorists that huge fines apply for evading police after a number of incidences took place across the district.
A Bowen man in his 20s was detected by police allegedly exceeding the speed limit.
It will be alleged the driver reached speeds of 130kmh on his way to Eidsvold and failed to stop when directed to do so by police.
Eidsvold police then spoke to a passing motorist who witnessed the incident.
The registered owner was identified and they nominated the driver.
Eidsvold police issued a $1000 fine and the offender will face court over other offences.
“It’s much better for drivers to stop than put other lives at risk,” Sgt James said.
“Drivers who are found guilty of evading police will face a mandatory fine of $5000 and a two-year licence suspension.”
The driver will face the Gayndah Magistrates Court later next month.
