THE Queensland Racing Integrity Commission will implement body-worn cameras for its Integrity Regulation Unit, Racing Minister Grace Grace has announced. Ms Grace said in a first for the racing industry, integrity officers had in recent weeks trialled body-worn cameras for use in the course of their duties, including for the collection of evidence. QRIC has committed close to $20,000 to buy 12 body-worn cameras and train IRU officers in their use. “I see this as a great opportunity for QRIC to take advantage of this camera technology to assist our officers in their evidence-collection duties,” Ms Grace said. She said it was a step towards improving safety.
