Heartfelt appeal for community donations
WIDE Bay resident Bobi Nowland and her siblings are appealing to the wider community for help in their mother’s fight against cancer.
Mrs Nowlan’s mother, Julie Shultz, has been battling renal cancer for two years, with chemotherapy, radiation, operations and medications.
“At the moment she is bound to mobility aids and has to wear a neck brace,” Mrs Nowland said.
Mrs Nowland and family have set up a GoFundMe campaign for cancer treatment not covered on the public benefit scheme.
“There is a new cancer treatment available in Australia called immunotherapy,” Mrs Nowland said.
“These are delivered by way of infusions every fortnight and they cost $4000 per infusion, so my siblings and I have decided to reach out for donations.
“This is the last treatment available to her.”
Mrs Shultz is the daughter of Monto couple Hazel and Geoff Shultz.
