INTRUST: With questions being asked over why the grass at Archer Park was cut low last weekend, the North Burnett Regional Council parks and gardens officer Robert Bourke explained it was necessary for the big game this weekend.

“The sports community have been minimally impacted given the maintenance schedule that has been implemented, however the Queensland Rugby League placed requirements on council in order for the Intrust Cup game to proceed,” Bourke said.

Bourke said several steps would be undertaken before the game kicks off on Sunday.

“The irrigation was reduced and due to the high usage of the facility I requested that the oval be given a rest,” he said.

“On Tuesday the oval was cut at a higher height giving that striped look, and as you can see, the oval is on track.

“The oval is scheduled to be line marked (today) and team markings painted on Saturday, it will also be cut again before Sunday.”

The maintenance program was formulated in March for the Intrust Super Cup, Bourke said.

LUSH: The footy fields are ready for this weekend.
