CHRISTMAS came early in the Burnett this year, thanks to the Mundubbera CWA.

The association’s Christmas in July event on Saturday attracted around 40 guests.

CWA member Christine Willcocks said the group raised $1000 which would help with community projects.

“More than 40 guests enjoyed a traditional Christmas lunch as well as party games and a visit from Santa,” Mrs Willcocks said.

“The CWA ladies appreciated generous donations of prizes from the community.”

The CWA was formed in 1922 when country women were fighting isolation and a lack of health facilities.

The CWA will hold several more fundraisers this year.

“The next fundraiser for the CWA will be the Cent Sale held on September 2 with funds going to the Rotary Lodge,” Mrs Willcocks said.

“We’ll also be doing the Melbourne Cup Day on November 7 with proceeds going towards LifeFlight and the Royal Flying Doctors.”
