THE Mundubbera Rotary held one of its biggest auction to date, drawing in more than 180 bidders at the weekend.

The club got the word out about the auction via social media, and some bidders travelled from as far afield as Brisbane.

First-time bidder Ernie Graveson drove from Brisbane after coming across the auction online.

He said it was an opportunity not to be missed.

“I pulled up the Australian clearance sales on the internet and there was heaps of real estates with different auctions and one said Mundubbera and I drove all the way here,” Mr Graveson said.

He said it was the busiest auction he had been to in a while.

“It’s busy, and there’s a lot of stuff here,” he said.

“There’s a lot of variety here that caters for everyone.”

Auctioneer Graham Lohse said he was impressed with how the event went.

“It was a great day, it was the best quality of stock we’ve had in 15 years, we had a lot of farm equipment,” Mr Lohse said.

Mr Lohse said it was a yearly event that allowed people to clean up their sheds.

“We have a lot of people’s sheds here,” he said.

The Mundubbera Rotary has amassed a big following amongst bidders.

Club president Mark Robertson said he was impressed with how the auction went and believed it was the biggest in terms of bidders.

“It’s estimated to be around $6000-$7000 coming from the auction that goes back into helping the community,” Mr Robertson said.

“It is the biggest auction we’ve had in quite a while and I’d love to thank all the volunteers, members, the kindergarten and those who lent us the facilities for the day.”
